Who We Are
WP2 is a private company set up by a consortium of businessmen local to the Wells area for the purposes of evaluating the viability and acceptability of the proposed advanced thermal treatment plant and carrying through the project to full operational capability. Sufficient funding has been put in place to allow the proper commercial, environmental and operational evaluation of the project by specialist teams.
Since 2004 the company has prepared and submitted a formal planning application to Somerset County Council and received consent (2007) to build the energy from waste facility at Haybridge. It has prepared and submitted an IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention Control) application to the Environment Agency for a license to operate the facility. An operator's permit was granted in March 2009.
