WP2 has plans to develop energy production sites at locations which meet the needs of local communities within geographical areas where the volumes of suitable refuse derived fuel (RDF) are available to be diverted from local or more distant landfill sites. By adhering to the general proximity principle of using waste in the area it is created, and generating power for consumption locally, our plans are very much focused on minimising quantities of unrecyclable waste going to landfill, reducing the distances waste is hauled for disposal and supporting local economies and households by providing access to renewable energy
