Corporate Responsibility
WP2 is committed to operating its business responsibly. Its corporate social and environmental responsibilities are taken seriously and the company will seek to run its business in a sustainable manner.
Pursuing our primary business objective of recovering energy from waste, we are committed to supporting the stated aims of the waste hierarchy. Our policy is to operate processes and procedures which divert waste from landfill by converting appropriate waste streams into energy, much of which will be waste biomass which will produce renewable energy. In this way we will provide alternative sources of energy and heat to offset the use of non-renewable fossil fuels for energy generation and reduce greenhouse gasses and carbon emissions.
WP2 is an early adopter of advanced technology for the conversion of waste to energy through which we strive to recover the optimum calorific value from waste derived fuel. As an energy generator we will always seek to source and use the best available technology (BAT) to ensure our operations are as efficient and cost-effective as possible.
Our waste conversion and energy production processes are licensed and regulated by the Environment Agency under WID (the European Waste Incineration Directive) and we have systems in place to ensure that emissions from our operations fully comply with the limits set out in WID. In this way we are committed to fulfilling our duty of care towards the environment, our employees, our customers, the local community and other stakeholders.
We will at all times endeavour to be transparent in the conduct of our business and will aim to have appropriate communication channels in place to allow information about our activities to be made known to our stakeholders in a timely manner. To this end the company will use a community liaison group (CLG) as the primary conduit for the dissemination of information to, and receive feedback from, stakeholder representatives from within the local areas in which the company operates.
